Saturday, November 13th was a very busy day for NAM's Joanne Watford Nutrition Center. Our good friends from the Cy-Creek Chapter of National Charity League held their annual food drive in support of NAM. After a morning of collecting boxes and crates of donated food, their caravan made their way to NAM. Over a dozen mini vans and SUVs along with two rented box tail trucks rolled up to deliver the fruits of their labor.
After more than an hour of unloading and weighing, the totals came in. The ladies delivered over 14,000 pounds of non perishable food and toiletries. This surpassed their total from last year by over 4,000 pounds. "What an amazing group. They really worked hard to get the word out and spent the day collecting and delivering over 14,000 pounds of food", Said an impressed Brian Carr, Chief Advancement Officer for NAM. "I am amazed and so appreciative of the work they put in. The need for food for our clients is still high and this certainly helps fulfill the need", added Carr.
The Joanne Watford Nutrition Center supplies food to families in need Mon-Fri 9:00 to 3:00. During the last fiscal year reporting period, NAM provided food for 31,307 individuals and gave out much more food at several super site food distributions to over 10,000 families.
The JWNC is currently collecting and packaging full holiday meals for nearly 2,000 families to be handed out in November and December.
