NAM Food Assistance Programs Need Your Support

Northwest Assistance Ministries' Food Assistance Program which is made up of the Joanne Watford Nutrition Center and the Meals on Wheels program is in need of the community's financial support. The need is not related to food supplies but rather the ever-growing program costs excluding the cost of food.

During the pandemic these programs have had to make drastic adjustments in their daily operations. Meals on Wheels changed from warm daily delivered meals to frozen shelf stable meals that are delivered once a week. Outside of a few dozen clients that also receive grocery assistance the Meals on Wheels clients are only seen once a week by the MOW team. This necessitated the need for MOW case managers to make daily calls and increased visits to client’s homes for well checks. These and other increasing program expenses are putting a strain on the program's resources.

The JWNC has seen a consistently increased number of families that need food assistance. Increasing the number of Food Fairs and operating community super site food giveaways has put a strain on the already tight pantry budget.

An appeal for financial support was recently mailed to the community with the hopes of achieving a goal of around $100k in donations. Please give generously to this appeal or click the "Donate" button below to make a donation online.
