NAM Food Fair

On Friday, June 11, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., the Joanne Watford Nutrition Center at Northwest Assistance Ministries hosted a Food Fair to distribute free groceries to anyone in the community that is in need of food. Fresh fruit and vegetables provided by the Houston Food Bank were given out on a first come, first serve basis.

Due to the public health concern, a drive-thru system was set in place. Cars lined up down the street and into the empty parking lot next door to NAM’s building. With the help of our wonderful volunteers from Young Men's Service League and NCL – Yellow Rose, NCL-Champions, NCL-Cypress Creek, Christ the Good Shepherd, Klein United Methodist Church, Northwest Presbyterian Church, Faithbridge Church, Lone Star Nursing and Legacy League more than 400 families received food from NAM that day.

Thank you to all of the volunteers who came to NAM on Thursday to unload the boxes of food and prepare grocery bags; and the volunteers on Friday who assisted the families and carried groceries to their cars. In total, it took around 50 volunteers to make sure NAM’s Food Fair ran smoothly and safely.

The Joanne Watford Nutrition Center accepts food donations Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. for a list our most needed items, please see below.

If you are in need of food or assistance with other basic needs like prescriptions, please take advantage of NAM’s walk-in Intake Office Monday – Friday 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. (Rental and Utility Assistance is provided on Mondays only from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.)
