Orientations for 2027 scholarship supported certification programs classes will begin in October 2026. All applicants are required to attend an in-person orientation as the first step before applying for a training program.

Frequently Asked Questions (Eligibility)

Will I automatically be awarded a scholarship for a class just so I can meet my SNAP, job search,
or other benefit requirements?
No. Scholarships are awarded based on financial need or specific program funding rules,
not to satisfy volunteer hours or other work-activity requirements. If you are in need of a
class in order to maintain your public benefit requirements, go to our events page

Who can apply for an Opportunity Center scholarship?
Applicants must be 18 years of age or older and possess a high school diploma or GED as
required for all Vocational Training courses, with the exception of Forklift training.

Are there location requirements?
Yes. Applicants must reside in a qualifying ZIP code. Proof of residency is required.

Are there any income restrictions?‍ ‍
Yes. Services are provided for individuals living below the Federal Poverty Level.

Can I apply if I have a criminal background?
Yes. Program eligibility is determined on a case-by-case basis and certain backgrounds could impact
eligibility for certain training courses.

Do I need to pass screenings?
Yes. Applicants must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.

Do I need work authorization?
Yes. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.

Is English proficiency required?
Yes. Applicants must be able to speak and write in English.
