Wear Denim Day 2022

On Wednesday, April 27th, 2022 wear jeans to show in solidarity with survivors of sexual assault.

Where did the idea of Wear Denim Day come from?

In 1992, an 18-year-old Italian woman was raped by her 45-year-old driving instructor who was taking her to her very first driving lesson. He took her to an isolated road, pulled her out of the car, and raped her. The case was taken to trial and the Italian Supreme Court overturned the case stating “because the jeans were so tight, she had to help him remove them” which they believed was consensual sex.

To stand in solidarity with the survivor, we wear our jeans on this day. Consent is an affirmative, enthusiastic YES. Clothes, flirting, and being under the influence does not equal consent.
