For the second consecutive year, NAM provided holiday blessings to hundreds of families and thousands of children.
Dozens of civic organizations, congregations, schools and local businesses hosted food and toy drives, and volunteered at NAM in groups. They were joined by hundreds of individuals and families who also donated food, toys and time as volunteers.
Though we’ve said it many times before: NAM is only able to organize these large-scale distribution events because of the support from our community. Individual donations of toys from many people - whether it be a family giving toys for a child, a local gym inviting their members to pay for a fitness class with a donated toy, or a school asking each staff member to contribute one toy towards their toy drive - all of these individual acts of kindness add up to make a difference.
We are incredibly grateful to our repeated donors, who give generously year after year. Despite the challenges that this year has brought, our congregational council and school district partners stepped up again in 2021 to provide for the children of our neighbors. The Conservatory at Champions and HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest are among our regular toy donors that we are grateful we can rely on.
With these thousands of toys donated, hundreds of hands are needed
to organize all food and toys as they are donated, and to get them from NAM’s toy warehouse into the hands of registered children. Starting in October, hundreds of individuals heeded our calls for volunteers. Students and faculty from our partner school districts worked side by side with individual volunteers, and local businesses sent groups of employees to volunteer for their days of service.
Every hour of time given as a volunteer and each box of food or bag of toys donated contributed to collective efforts of generosity. These combined acts of giving once again made it possible for us to provide food to 1500 families and toys to 5000 children.
