Sexual Assault Awareness Month Special Screening at NAM

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month and on Tuesday, April 23, 2019, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Northwest Assistance Ministries (NAM) is inviting the community to attend a special screening of a recent episode of “Grey’s Anatomy” that addresses the topic of sexual violence. Following the screening, there will be a community discussion.

“We want to raise public awareness about sexual violence and educate our community on how to prevent it,” said Sheryl Johnson, Director of NAM’s Family Violence Center. “The more we talk about the problem the closer we can get to a world free of sexual assault and abuse and inspire people to do our part to protect survivors and prevent sexual violence.”

The screening and community discussion will be held at NAM located at 15555 Kuykendahl Rd., Houston, TX 77090. The event is free, but you are asked to please submit your RSVP if you plan to attend. If you have questions or would like additional information, contact Cynthia Butler at [email protected].

Due to the sensitive subject matter and graphic content, the event may not be appropriate for children under the age of 13 and viewer discretion is advised.

NAM’s Family Violence Center will also host a “We Stand By You” event in front of NAM’s main building on National Denim Day – Wednesday, April 24, 2019. Everyone is encouraged to wear denim or jeans to protest against Sexual Violence.
