NAM Staying Virtually Connected with Seniors

During the month of June, NAM's Young at Heart Senior Center began offering virtual activities for members who desire to remain active and connected. Many found that connecting via Zoom, a video conferencing service, is actually easier than they thought. Virtual participation allowed them to see and speak with their friends and help them continue exercising to remain healthy and fit. This month, NAM is offering more opportunities for our seniors to play virtual Bingo, participate in Zumba exercise class on Wednesday mornings, and take part in a “Container Gardening” presentation with Texas A&M.

NAM is also continuing to serve our seniors by making sure they receive the meals they would normally get when they came to the 60+ Cafe by placing them on our Meals on Wheels routes. All seniors receive a weekly wellness phone call from a NAM staff member too. This gives the seniors a chance to let us know if they have any additional needs such as cleaning supplies or face masks, or let us know if they are struggling to get their medications or feeling ill.

NAM will continue to be here for our seniors and our community.
