For more than 2,600 children in northwest Houston, NAM’s Pediatric Health Center (PHC) is their medical home. 83% of those patients live below the poverty level; 97% have Medicaid or are uninsured.
The PHC cares for the everyday medical needs of children but goes far beyond that to address issues that may be impacting a child’s health, such as financial need, home environment, coordination with specialists, or the need for behavioral health therapy or respiratory health therapy.
The PHC is leading workshops on healthy eating, physical fitness, stress management, and sleep. They are also conducting Positive Parenting classes in English and Spanish, which will include free child care.
Due to unforeseen cuts in funding, these programs are in jeopardy. NAM needs your help to fill the funding gap of more than $150,000 so children in our community can continue to receive affordable, quality healthcare.
