Summer 2022 brought another wave of first-time clients to NAM. Global food, rent and fuel price increases created economic hardship for all of our neighbors, even for individuals who were employed.

“By the time I pay rent, I have almost no money left for food,” said one client. “It's my first time receiving food from NAM this year.”

“My husband had lost his job due to covid, so we are struggling to get by. I’m working from home right now, but our SNAP food benefits stopped because of that,” said another first time client, the mother of two young boys.  “So I needed to come to NAM to get that extra assistance.”

Approximately 65% of clients NAM served this year had never needed assistance before. 

Serving this dramatic increase of clients now means that our inventory is at critically low levels. Some grocery staples are almost depleted, with the shelves of select food items completely empty. 

Our hearts are full of gratitude for those who have answered the call for donations. Loyalty Plumbing is one of our most recent donors, as they provided 619 pounds of food collected from an employee food drive. 

We need many more to step up with donors like Loyalty Plumbing. 

One way to quickly collect food is to host a donation drive. Encourage your gym members and employees to bring some food items at your place of business, or host a food collection project in your youth group or student club. Every donation of every size is greatly needed and appreciated.

If you are unable to host a food drive, financial donations will enable us to purchase more food at greatly reduced bulk prices from grocery distributors.
