Celebrate National Sewing Month with NAM's Helping Hands

September is National Sewing Month.  The observance of National Sewing Month began in 1982 with a proclamation from President Ronald Reagan declaring September as National Sewing Month “In recognition of the importance of home sewing to our Nation.”

National Sewing Month is a time to indulge your passion for sewing and is the perfect opportunity to introduce yourself to the craft if you’ve never tried it before.

At NAM’s Senior Center, every Tuesday and Thursday, a group of enthusiastic senior crafters gather at the Fifty Plus Center to sew quilts, pillows, bags, and more. This group is called Helping Hands because all of the crafts they make are sold and the proceeds go towards NAM’s programs and services.

Right now, everyone can “Fall” into great savings on Helping Hands Crafts this month! In honor of the beginning of Autumn, enjoy 20% off all Helping Hands quilts (previously reduced items not included). Find our unique handcrafted items in the NAM Boutique store on the first floor of the main building or on the second floor in the Fifty Plus Center.

September is a time to celebrate your passion for sewing, but we know the creative, therapeutic and calming effects of sewing are joys that we can celebrate throughout the entire year and that’s exactly what Helping Hands does.
