NAM’s annual Art for the Hungry event will be held on February 26, 2012 at Willowbrook Mall. The sculptures will remain on display for two weeks and will be dismantled after the awards ceremony on March 11, 2012.
Art for the Hungry kicks off NAM’s yearly Survival Over Summer food drive. The goal of the drive is to replenish the Food Pantry for the upcoming summer months. The Food Pantry is generally depleted after the holidays, and needs to be restocked. Summer brings an increased need for food, since children are out of school and families’ budgets are stretched with high utility bills.
There are two ways to participate in this exciting project:
1. Building Participant—Building participants will design and build a sculpture based on the theme, “Washington Monuments”, using a minimum of 1,000 non-perishable food items. The sculpture will be on display for two weeks at Willowbrook Mall, and then the food will go to NAM’s Food Pantry.
2. Food Drive Participant— Food Drive participants will hold a food drive and deliver
the food to the NAM Food Pantry between March 1st and April 30th.
Everyone is welcome to participate. This is a great service opportunity for congregations, schools, businesses, and civic groups. All food and funds collected go to NAM’s Food Pantry. Thanks to a grant from The Feinstein Foundation, all food and funds collected for this project are eligible for a proportional match.
