NAM's Workforce Development Program was started to help evacuees from Hurricanes Rita and Katrina and over time has grown to include other area residents who need help finding and keeping jobs. The WD program offers a range of services for evacuees and area residents including interview training, resume assistance, application assistance, job leads, job coaching, job retention services, a resource library, computer laboratory access, one-on-one job counseling and job fairs.

About five years ago, my mom was fortunate enough to find NAM. We were going through a very difficult time, financially and emotionally. Immediately we were embraced by the kindness of NAM and its people. Five years of help encompass too many details and stories…I will just say that I won't ever forget them, ever.

On Aug. 29, 2005, disaster hit home literally because it hit New Orleans where I was born and lived my whole life. Prior to this day, disasters were things that happened to someone else somewhere else.
