Senior Wheels is a national organization that provides volunteer services to people age 50 and older or who are disabled and need transportation to medical appointments, grocery and drug stores, and shopping in northwest Houston. Senior Wheels also provides information and referrals to other agencies and services.  Clients pay a nominal fee which is adjusted or waived if the client cannot afford to pay. Currently, a waiting list is in effect. 

NAM Senior Wheels provides volunteer services to seniors age 50 and over or who are disabled in the FOLLOWING ZIP CODES:  77014, 77066, 77067, 77068, 77069, 77070, 77090, 77379, 77388, and 77389.  Services include:

• Transportation to medical appointments, grocery and drug stores, banks, and shopping malls between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, not more that once per week
• Errand-running for picking up prescriptions and other necessities
• Minor maintenance such as testing smoke alarms and changing light bulbs and air conditioner filters
• Information and referrals to appropriate agencies and services

Each client will have an initial interview to see if this program meets his/her needs.

• Clients must call 3 working days in advance to arrange transportation or other services.  Services are provided as volunteers are available.
