The Family Violence Center (FVC) program offers a crisis hotline, access to emergency shelter, peer advocacy, legal advocacy, support groups and counseling for those suffering abuse in their homes. In an effort to aid the entire family, counseling for the abuser is offered through the Pivot Project. Additionally, bilingual English-Spanish services and a speaker’s bureau are available. The FVC program works with more than 300 clients a month.
In order to access FVC services, call the hotline number, 281-885-HOPE (4673) or toll free at 1-888-750-4673. All calls are confidential. A telephone intake interview takes approximately 5-10 minutes. Once this is completed an appointment is set to conduct a face-to-face interview which takes approximately 45 minutes. At this point, the can better match the client’s needs with the available services. Clients also are welcome to come to the FVC without an appointment.
Open 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. The Hotline is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
