Northwest Assistance Ministries is committed to Neighbors Helping Neighbors and to help people, neighbors need to know how to access those services. (People seeking assistance must call 281-583-5600 and schedule an appointment for an interview. Families often need services from more than one NAM program. An interview is essential to determine a family's needs and which resources can best address their needs.)
Thanks to the support of NAM’s Covenant Congregations, community members, affiliate organizations and business partners, NAM offers many services and some programs do not have the same service areas or eligibility requirements.
NAM offers some services that are strictly limited by contractual agreement with other social service agencies. Those limits are based on geographic areas defined by ZIP Codes (see map). NAM’s core service area includes 18 ZIP Codes:
77014 – 77032 – 77038 – 77050 – 77060 – 77066 –
77067 – 77068 – 77069 – 77070 – 77073 – 77086 –
77090 – 77373 – 77379 – 77386 – 77388 – 77389.
NAM’s Assistance Program and Food Pantry serve the above ZIP Codes. If someone does not reside within NAM’s service area, staff members refer the individual to the neighboring agency that serves the area where they reside. The Meals on Wheels program has a larger service area which is also based on ZIP Codes. The geographic requirements are designed to make the most of limited resources.
Still other programs, such as the Family Violence Center, Children’s Clinic, Interfaith Hospitality Network, Senior Center and Rotary Learning/Workforce Development Center have no geographic restrictions.
